commercial_segment
commercial_segment tells you what kind of contract the
subscriber has with the mobile operator: prepaid, postpaid or business.
The contract type says something about how well the subscriber was identified. A postpaid contract usually involves a credit check and full identity verification. A prepaid SIM can often be bought with much lighter checks.
Request
Send the number and commercial_segment in
commands. No other input is needed.
{
"number": "+447808226974",
"commands": ["commercial_segment"]
}
commercial_segment is not available in every country. Where
it is not available, see Billing.
Response
The result is in the market_segment field, a string at the
top level of the response:
{
"status": 0,
"status_message": "Response from one supplier",
"market_segment": "PAYM",
"version": "..."
}
market_segment values
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
PAYG | Prepaid (pay as you go). |
PAYM | Postpaid or contract (pay monthly). |
Business | A business or corporate contract. |
Compare the value without regard to case, and treat any value not in this table as unknown.
When there is no market_segment field
If the operator holds no contract type for the number, could not be
reached, or the check is not enabled for that operator, the response
has no market_segment field. The status is
4, and the status_message names
commercial_segment among the commands that returned no
data. If the number's country is not covered, the status
is 2, or 4 when other commands were served.
Billing
A response with a market_segment field is charged. A
response without it is not charged.
